Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. Our ALDs transmit sound from a live microphone, directly to a set of headphones. CAPA offers headphones, or you can bring your own if you wish.

ALDs are available free-of-charge at all CAPA venues for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like an ALD, please ask an usher or house manager who will retrieve one for you.

  • A valid photo ID will be required if using an Assisted Listening Device.

Listen Everywhere

Listen Everywhere, an assistive listening, mobile app, is now available to patrons in the Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre, and Southern Theatre. Bring your own headphones or ear buds, download the free app, and stream live, high-quality audio directly to your cell phone that can be adjusted to your personal volume preference. Directions will be available throughout the Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre, and Southern Theatre!

Audio Descriptions

Audio description is available for select performances in all CAPA theatres (Ohio, Palace, Southern, Lincoln, Riffe, McCoy, Drexel). Using a single earpiece, trained audio describers give live verbal descriptions of non-verbal parts of the show (actions, costumes, scenery and other visual elements on stage.)

Audio description begins with show notes 15 to 20 minutes prior to the start of the performance and requires an assistive listening device.

Headsets are available free-of-charge at all venues for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis. You are welcome to bring your own headphones if you prefer.
